Environmental care: ecology, health and welfare
Nature First
Even when being “green” was not so highly valued behavior, Plaza Hotels, Resorts & Spas Chain already applied advanced concepts of environmental protection, and in recent years, with the global avalanche of warnings about ecological destruction in motion on the planet, the group strengthened its actions. In a joint initiative in leisure hotels in Santa Catarina and Bahia, the Chain launched in 2007, five characters who work heavily concepts of nature protection and environmental sustainability. They are Plazinho Ar [Air], Plazinho Água [Water] and Plazinho Terra [Earth]. They are Misses Poluição [Pollution] and biopirate Mister Shato’s fighters. The intention, with these procedures, is to show to their young tourists that nature comes first and that only by protecting it, future generations can enjoy benefits such as clean water, clean rivers, thriving forests or even natural spectacles for leisure (trekking, rafting and many others). All details are remembered. For example, in the Plaza Caldas da Imperatriz Resort & SPA, a biologist is permanently on call to guide tourists. He takes care of all issues about Mata Atlântica, which is interesting to guests, provides information about plants, trees, flowers and also about bird watching. More than that: he takes care of curiosities like the butterfly vivarium and also accompanies guests on their ecological wanderings in the fields of Resort. At the Plaza Itapema Resort & SPA, the greatest care is the fate of water. Not to cause pollution, there is a preventive action that has been on the Resort for more than 30 years. In Bahia Plaza Resort, the turtles that nest on Busca-Vida Beach receive special and permanent attention through joint actions with the Projeto Tamar and IBAMA [Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources], and other organizations that respect and value the environment. In business hotels in Porto Alegre and Blumenau, the disposal of garbage and saving water are constant concerns. In the administrative area of all the hotels, employees are oriented to print as little as possible. It aims to avoid wasting paper, a product that comes from nature and trees, which need to be preserved. The order is also recycling and using recyclable materials, easily absorbed by nature.
